Looking ahead to this weekends’ King George at Ascot. We have the second price favourite HIGHLAND REEL running for the Coolmore team. This top class colt by no other than GALILEO has now totted up earnings of over £1.7 million and dually rated 119 for his efforts.
With the shock news of POSTPONED now having to miss the King George, it leaves the door slightly ajar for the other contenders. However, HIGHLAND REEL will not be without stiff competition from the likes of The Queen’s horse DARTMOUTH, who is currently the market leader and who’s trainer Sir Michael Stoute thinks very highly of.
HIGHLAND REEL was filmed by Sirecam in 2013 for the Tattersalls Book 1 sale. John Warren went on to purchase the colt from Camas Park Stud for 460,000gns.
Sirecam Graduate NUNO TRISTAN (Henrythenavigator) bids to make back-to-back wins tomorrow at Ascot in the International Stakes for Richard Fahey. Jamie Spencer takes the ride. NUNO TRISTAN was also consigned by Camas Park Stud at Tattersalls Book 1 and sold to Blandford Bloodstock in 2013 for 115,000gns.
Elsewhere at the weekend, SWAHEEN (Lawman) runs for Julie Camacho in York’s Sky Bet Handicap under Tom Queally. SWAHEEN was pin hooked by Camas Park Stud 2012 and went on to be consigned by the stud, as a yearling in 2013, at Tattersalls Book 1. Charlie Gordon-Watson made the final bid for 240,000gns.
